Rich Lewis, Jr. was born on November 23, 1949 in Forest Home, Alabama to the late Rich Lewis, Sr. & Nettie Bell Womack Lewis. After an extended illness, he passed away on December 28, 2025 at Baptist Medical Center South, Montgomery, Alabama.
At a very early age, Rich was baptized & became an active member of the Ridgeville Baptist Church, Forest Home, Alabama where he faithfully served. He left home after graduating from Southside High School in 1967 on his journey to retiring as a Master Sergeant from 20 years in the United States Marine Corps (USMC). He held several positions & received many honors/medals during his time in the Marines.
After retiring from the Marines, he purchased a farm in Greenville, Alabama & resumed his dedicated work with the Ridgeville Baptist Church as Chairman of the Deacon Board & Sunday School teacher. For 20 of these years, he worked & retired from Easter Seals, Montgomery, Alabama helping Clients with hearing lost/deafness find viable jobs in the community.
He leaves to cherish his memories three children, Kenyatta & Chance Lewis (Panama City, FL) & TerykaEvans (Calera, AL); six grandchildren Justice Lewis (Tallahassee, FL), Jordan Lewis (Charlotte, NC), Marisha & Michele Baker (Panama City, FL), Talia Lewis (Greenville, AL) & Madysin Jackson (Calera, AL); three Siblings - brother Sebbie (Lola) Lewis (Forest Home, AL), sisters Shirley Ruffin (Indianapolis, IN) & Rayceil Lewis Oggs (Radcliff, KY); a loyal/devoted nephew Gary (Tameka) Lewis (Pelham, AL); nephew Johnivon Oggs & nieces Denisha Oggs & Tameka & Jiya Lewis; special friends Pauline Evans Lewis & Ursula Gray; his Loyal & Dedicated Caregiver, Rev. Charles Jones; wonderful neighbors Milton Luckie, Ty & Emily Varner, Grey Vinson; his compassionate Pastor, Rev. Demus Smith & the deacons/members of the Ridgeville Baptist Church; a special friend Xavier Lane & special cousin, Rev. Tony Womack; & his beloved dog, Regan. Memories are also with several close cousins in many cities/states – he visited, texted & telephoned them on an ongoing basis; and his frequent connections with so many people worldwide are endless. When you met/interacted with Rich, people warmly remembered him.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Rich & Nettie Lewis; a sister, Shirley Ann Lewis (died after birth); his grandparents and several aunts, uncles, cousins & friends.
